History

Safiatu Barrie-Narteh founded the Binette Foundation on August 10, 2023, to fulfill her dedication to providing educational and entrepreneurial support to those in need. The foundation is named in honor of her late mother, who taught her to be a strong, independent woman, and her husband, who has always supported her in pursuing her dreams.
As a child, Safiatu experienced firsthand the devastation of war and how it can strip a family of everything they have worked for (her parents' case). Despite these challenges, she was fortunate to receive scholarships that allowed her to attend school from kindergarten to graduate level. In gratitude for the opportunities she received, she proudly established the Binette Foundation to impact the lives of those in need positively.
Safiatu Barrie-Narteh is a mining engineer, philanthropist, humanitarian, and entrepreneur who is very passionate and enthusiastic about mining and seeing the growth of young people in education and entrepreneurship. Safiatu passion for helping others has always been her driving force. She firmly believes you do not need to be wealthy to impact the world positively.
The Binette Foundation will start its operations in Liberia, aiming to expand throughout Africa, creating opportunities for young people to pursue their dreams and achieve success.

Binette Foundation Current Operation Plans

In 2021, after obtaining her graduate degree, Safiatu Barrie-Narteh was recruited into the Nevada Gold Mines Greenfield Program, designed to equip young mining engineers with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the industry. In this process, Safiatu saved up some of her salaries, raised about $10,000 United States Dollars over her eighteen-month training, and intended to continue doing more.
With this funding, Safiatu is confident that the Binette Foundation's first three-year plan will succeed. In the first year, the foundation will provide scholarships and aid to small businesses to foster growth in the local community. In the second year, the Binette Foundation will establish a computer lab for mining engineering students at the University of Liberia. By the third year, Binette Foundation plans to expand to the Mano Rivers Countries in West Africa, bringing their transformative programs and resources to more people in need.
          T
he Binette Scholarship Application will be available from September 11-30, 2023. With Safiatu dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence, she aims to continue raising funds and expanding the foundation's reach to help as many people as possible.
